Many people visit LA every year, especially for their beach holidays. And, there is a common misconception that you need to have a lot of money in order to have fun in LA. But, while having a couple of bucks certainly helps, there are a ton of ways in which you can have a blast in Los Angeles without spending a dime. So, to make your next visit extra cost-effective, let's look at some fun things to do in Los Angeles for no money at all.

So, you've just come to Los Angeles and you're not sure where to go. Should you go to a local bar and ask locals for some advice? Or should you simply start walking around and hope that you will stumble upon something interesting? Our answer is - neither. In order to make the most out of your visit, you need to know where to go and what to do.

Visit the beach

One of the easiest ways to have fun in LA for no money is to visit the beach. Los Angeles has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world and you can have fun visiting them every day of the year. Whether you would like to go for a walk, have fun with some sports activities or simply relax beneath the LA sun, going to the beach is bound to be a good decision. Keep in mind though that while almost all beaches are free, not all of them have free parking. But, since LA has over 70 miles of coastline, we feel that you will have no trouble finding a beautiful beach to your taste.

Walk down the Venice Beach Boardwalk

Want to get an idea of what LA is like after moving from another state? Then simply walk down the Venice Beach Boardwalk. Here you will see the most stereotypical residents of LA that you can find. From street performers that will make you laugh, to the beach bodybuilders that will make you gasp. Plus, if you come during the weekends, there is bound to be an event going on. So, if you want a sure way to have some LA fun, be sure to check out Venice Beach Boardwalk. You can't honestly say that you've visited LA if you don't.

Check out Griffith Observatory in the Griffith Park

If you have a whole day to spend in LA and you are not sure where to go, we've got a terrific suggestion for you. First, you need to head to Griffith Park early in the morning. Pack some food, some books and enjoy a beautiful day at this gorgeous park. Once late afternoon starts creeping in, around 5-6 pm, you should get in line at the Griffith Observatory. There you will be able to visit a free astronomy museum. Now, there are some terrific exhibits you can see there. But the best one, and the reason why you should come there in the late afternoon, is the super Zeiss telescope. This awesome piece of technology will give you a glimpse of the summer sky like you've never seen it before.

Visit the Broad Museum of Contemporary Art

Broad Museum of Contemporary Art is a must-see for any art aficionado visiting LA. Built by Eli and Edythe Broad, this stunning building houses an extensive collection of top-notch art. Plus, there are constantly visiting exhibits and shows that are bound to be of interest. The only possible downside to visiting this Museum is the crowds. So, if you do plan on visiting it, avoid holidays and try to book your ticket in advance.

Go to the Annenberg Space for Photography

Not a lot of people realize that photography is truly an art form. So, if you put aside the never-ending selfies and amateur shots, you can visit the Annenberg Space for Photography. This modern museum is a testament to what photography is all about. Here you will find some of the best work from world-famous photographers. Plus, you can get an audio guide and learn more about what goes into this art form. So, if you are up for something new and interesting. visiting Annenberg Space for Photography is one of the best free things to do in Los Angeles.

Visit the Getty Center

This gorgeous establishment not only houses the finest art collection in the world but it also has stunning gardens that you can stroll through. Not to mention the jaw-dropping view of the city. So, all in all, you'll be doing yourself a huge favor by visiting this terrific building, even if you are not that into art. Just know that even though the entrance is free, parking can be expensive, so consider taking the bus for a cheaper visit.

Check out L.A. Downtown Library

If you are looking for more history-oriented things to do in Los Angeles, then visiting the L.A. Downtown Library should be your go-to. This astonishing piece of architecture houses public programs, gallery shows, and public art. Not to mention standing exhibits and are well worth your visit. And, if you are impressed by the Library, we suggest that you also check out the West Hollywood Library. Both are free and have some amazing artwork for you to see.

Have a laugh at the Free Comedy Show

After a day of having fun on the beach or checking out local art, you should have a bit of laughter. And for that, we suggest that you visit one of the many free comedy clubs in LA. Just make sure that it is a family-friendly one if you plan on taking your family. Some of the best upcoming comedians are performing completely free of charge. All you have to pay is the one drink minimum.
